RKBA is a DKos group of second amendment supporters who also have progressive and liberal values. We don't think that being a liberal means one has to be anti-gun. Some of us are extreme in our second amendment views (no licensing, no restrictions on small arms) and some of us are more moderate (licensing, restrictions on small arms.) Moderate or extreme, we hold one common belief: more gun control equals lost elections. We don't want a repeat of 1994. We are an inclusive group: if you see the Second Amendment as safeguarding our right to keep and bear arms individually, then come join us in our conversation. If you are against the right to keep and bear arms, come join our conversation. We look forward to seeing you, as long as you engage in a civil discussion. RKBA stands for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.

Oakland BG ran afoul of cops before rampage.
Beats me what he thought he could do saturday night into sunday morning, but...
First we had the report(link)

And after some questioning, a motive is revealed link
A couple of important comments from the Tuesday diary:
gerrilea "In summary, the Task Force found insufficient evidence to determine the effectiveness of any of the firearms laws reviewed for preventing violence."
Robobagpiper "The mentality of assigning moral value to an object based on intentionality of design, rather than intentionality of use, is part of the social conservative mentality; not a progressive mentality. It's why it's still a crime in some states to own more than 5 dildos." I submitted this to Top Comments. I wish it received more publicity. -KV
Shadan7 has this for us today:
Yet another "illegal use of a weapon" by an ex-husband. Why is it that these nuts always go for their guns? Oh wait . . .
Man threatened pair with sword, police say
( http://www.columbiatribune.com/... )
A Harrisburg man allegedly threatened a couple with a sword last night while traveling on Route J.
The 8:53 p.m. incident happened south of Harrisburg on the 1400 block of Route J, Boone County sheriff’s deputies said. William E. Jones III, 47, of 302 County Road 414 began following the victims’ truck closely, the Boone County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release. The 43-year-old male driver stopped the truck to allow Jones to pass, but Jones instead pulled in front of the victims and exited his vehicle with a sword while screaming.
Jones struck the hood of the victim’s truck with the sword and displayed it in a threatening manner, the release said. Damage to the vehicle was reported. Jones and the 44-year-old female passenger in the vehicle were previously married, Detective Tom O’Sullivan said.
"There can be only one!"

A Word of Thanks to Four Black Men and A Gun
July 15, 2010 by Marcus Cole
As an American, I owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to many, many people who have risked and given their lives to defend our liberty. But as I reflect on the recent Supreme Court decision in McDonald v. City of Chicago, I thought I should take a moment to mention four Americans who have made a relatively uncelebrated contribution to the freedom I cherish and enjoy. I owe a special debt to four black men, and one gun.

TG's Food for Thought:
I sometimes see people quote the title of the song, "Don't Take Your Guns to Town" as some sort of argument against firearm ownership. Of course, those who do so have apparently never really listened to the song in question.
Johnny doesn't get into any trouble for taking his guns to town -- he gets into trouble when he acts in a violent and unacceptable manner. As in reality, it isn't the gun that causes violence, it is a violent person that causes violence.
I can think of at least two Kossacks who have done this multiple times. Good thinking, TG. -KV
