Sunday I went to a local farmer's market and one of the vendors had a crate full of kittens. One in particular was too adorable to resist, so we now have a new kitten to the menagerie. I've grown up in a household with many pets, and mine is pretty diverse; three aquariums of various sizes, five ferrets, a pair of zebra finches, a corn snake and now two cats.
I've had only one cat per household(the last time I had two they fought a lot, duh.)but since the newbie is a girl and I have a boy who was neutered this spring, I thought that maybe they would have a better chance of getting along.
So far, that has proven correct. Hannibal, my other cat, is barely a year old himself and is still very much a kitten yet, so after a couple cautious sniffs he decided he had a new playmate and was all cool with that. Even the ferrets, one a newbie herself, think the new kitten is awesome. The kitten is still a bit scared of the carpet sharks, but since ferrets have such playful natures, they will win her over.
I've named the newbie 'Ginger' because she's a bright orange tabby, but since this is a Progressive household I also call her the 'Little Orange Satan'.
Hope you don't mind, Markos.
