MKKendrick has decided to live blog date night.
Why on Earth do such a thing? Well, it perhaps started because we were both exhausted after a rather trying week, yet the prospect of sitting through 2 1/2 hours of Inception wasn't quite working for us.. so we decided to go low key.
MKK had the idea to bring our laptops to a wine bar and hang out and doing some writing. Naturally we had to get in some people watching first.. which involved listening to the people the next table over discuss, among other things, how they were tight with the vintage rock industry because they were 2-3 steps removed from the band KISS.
Heh. I guess that makes us 3-4 steps removed from facepaint greatness. We rule. :)
Anyway, since we had laptops and Facebook accounts open, and talking openly about acutely interesting people not five feet away is poor form... we commented about them in Facebook chat. :)
More, presumably more interesting observations in the running conversation below. :)
But in MKK's own words:
DH and I are out for date night tonight. Tonight's event? Well, we've parked ourselves in the corner of a great wine bar where we can listen to live music, enjoy our favorite Riesling, AND tap into the bar's free wireless :) We brought our laptops and we're both working on some writing projects and surfing the net. For the past 20 minutes, we've been stealthily Facebook chatting about the rather obnoxious four-some sitting near us. This isn't our usual date night, but we're having a BLAST! It's a wonderful break from the regular routine to go off together to do something like this.
We both spend a lot of time on the internet, so that's not unusual--but to be here, in an out-of-the-ordinary location, hanging out together on the internet and getting in some writing--that's something special. (AND...a lot cheaper than a big dinner or movie out!). So, what are you all up to tonight? AND, what's your favorite unusual date night?
FYI I have permission from the author to post this in its entirety.
BTW the Riesling is great. :)
