While we are all wishing a happy birthday to President Obama this weekend, we also should take a moment and also wish a Happy 49th Birthday to Tarryl Clark - the candidate so courageously taking on Michele Bachmann in MN-06. BTW - She's got a much nicer smile than Michele.
In honor of Tarryl let's certainly wish her a happy birthday, but also donate $4.90 or $49.00 if we can.
You can use our Progressive Electorate/Daily Kos Act Blue Page or feel free to promote your own in the thread
Here's a neat email I got from Tarryl's mother this morning who shares the same birthday
I knew Tarryl was special from the start. She was due on my birthday and was born on my birthday, and this weekend, we'll share that special day - our birthday.
To celebrate her birthday, Tarryl's campaign for Congress is asking all of you to contribute $49 to say "Happy 49th birthday, Tarryl!"
Tarryl and I have always been close. She was born when her dad was serving in the Navy. He was often at sea. As a result, I took Tarryl everywhere with me when she was young - she was my little buddy. I think that's how Tarryl learned to love people so much.
One thing that you may not know is that Tarryl is also a fourth generation sewer. Her grandmother and I taught her to sew as a child and she has been sewing ever since. She even reignited my interest in quilting when I visited she and the kids years ago. I had given up quilting when I was raising Tarryl and her brothers, but when I saw that Tarryl was quilting, I was excited to do so again.
More importantly, though, Tarryl has always been committed to serving her community, whether through her church, her sons' schools, with the Girl Scouts Council, Habitat for Humanity, or in the Minnesota Senate. I am so proud of what she's accomplished, and I know we would all be proud to have someone like her in Congress.
Please join me in wishing my little buddy, and a daughter who I share my birthday with, a happy birthday by contributing $49 (or whatever you can afford) today.
Sincerely,
Sandi Donley
Tarryl's Mom
If you got the opportunity to meet Tarryl at Netroots Nation, I know that you came away impressed like I did. However, It's going to take a lot of hard work and strength to beat Michele Bachmann. Let's show Tarryl our appreciation on her birthday and give her an extra boost.
