This is so upsetting to me, the more of it I read the more I begin to shake. But I had to share some of this with the community here, because it seems to me they are copycatting the Rand Paul game plan, so that if they don't succeed at getting the Senate seat against Jack Conway here in Kentucky, they will take our governor's seat instead (or God forbid in addition too!)
Don't let this happen, don't let it...Kentucky don't need this crap!
Our last Political Polling wrap up on 7/29/10 touches on some of this, I want to try and expand some on that.
As mentioned by the previously linked Dkos entry, The GOP ticket of Phil Moffett & Mike Harmon (examine his state voting record HERE) is using David Adams, former Campaign director for the Rand Paul Campaign for their manager, and Phil Moffett does have and is seeking more tea party endorsements for his campaign...
...Moffett and Harmon announced their slate Thursday afternoon during Leland Conway's radio show on Lexington's WLAP-630 AM. They were accompanied by David Adams, who recently left as campaign director of Republican Rand Paul's bid for the U.S. Senate.
Adams said he will manage the Moffett-Harmon campaign.
Moffett, 47, said he plans to meet with Tea Party organizers and will "try to gain their support."
He said he has not tried to contact U.S. Senate candidate Paul, a favorite of the limited government movement, but that he agrees with Paul's stances on smaller government, lower debt and fiscal responsibility.
Moffett, who has a bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Kentucky, has been a board member of the Bluegrass Institute for Public Policy Solutions, a libertarian-leaning think tank based in Bowling Green.
He also is co-founder and serves on the board of directors of School CHOICE Scholarships of Kentucky Inc., a privately funded program providing scholarships to low-income families to allow their children to attend private schools....(MORE)
Plus Moffett is in the telecommunications business, a firm called CCS Partners. Forgive my criticism, but they don't exactly have the most up to date looking website. Despite that, he seems to enjoy science fiction somewhat.
The blog "Barefoot and progressive" has the video of the announcements, including one video of David Adam's reaction over the Rachel Maddow interview with Rand Paul. It is a must stop, as you will get more than a couple chuckles from the questions and videos.
To me, it looks like the campaign director is going from campaign to campaign to try and set a couple different races off using the momentum of this "movement". The Idea of Rand Paul as a senator scares me enough, much less throw another teabagger in the mix who will be the head of our state government. All of them do have one thing in common, leave business alone and let it do what it wants. That is not what Kentucky needs, it has given us environmental and safety problems from Coal, and it certainly hasn't improved job growth for our state.
We can't let them take not one Kentucky seat, not the Senate nor the Governor. This tea-party/libertarian merger ideology is not one that Kentucky, nor any other state, should endure. The corporate abuses of the environment, consumers, and so on that would spring forth from it would seriously injure an already economically injured state.
Please take a moment to support Jack Conway, the Democrat for Senate against Rand Paul, and visit Steve Brashear's website, our state's Democratic Governor.
