My poem below celebrates the uncertainties of life. Perhaps many of us would be happier if we just let go a little more.
But no, how many of us struggle and struggle to get all of pins in a row. We control, control and control the controlling.
One advantage of aging is seeing that the uncertainties of life are a given...and can be fun and exciting. We just have to convince our ego along the way.
There comes a time in life
When all the answers have been explored.
--- And found lacking.
The older we get the less we know to be
sure, positive, black or white, red or blue.
The wisdom of age is that we see life
as grays, pinks, orange, purple and green.
We find ourselves living in between
Happiness and sadness, joy and pain.
We discover the nuances of time and thought
of God, of love and hate, remorse and hope.
We walk sometimes in a trance not knowing
where our path will lead next.
We let go for awhile, seeing ourselves
as human after all, pilgrims on voyage.
Our days fill with tolerance
of tastes, smells, sights and sounds.
We may have attempted our lives under control,
taught that we could map our future one day at a time.
We studied to learn the answers of life's mysteries
Only to realize that the more we knew the less we knew
....about love, power, emotion and sorrow.
We bowed to confusion, doubting, moving with the flow.
So today we marvel at the wonder life provides,
Alive with breathing, stumbling, unpredictability.
Why figure it all out?
Only Ego wants to know.
My Higher Self is like that weaned baby
embraced, in Mother Earth's arms, sleeping.
Dreaming of tomorrow with surprises galore!
