Not that this will stop the Republicans from their headlong rush into full-tilt insanity -- but -- before anyone goes overboard about "birthright citizenship," maybe we'd better ask this question.
As we know, the GOP is rushing deeper and deeper into craziness with the latest attacks on the 14th Amendment and "birthright citizenship" -- the legal fact that anyone born in the USofA is an American citizen.
But let's consider another form of "birthright citizenship" -- the citizenship of the children of US citizens born outside the country.
I am a career Army officer with 28 years of service. My children -- twins -- were born in Germany in 1968 while I was stationed there. They are citizens because they were born to US citizens.
Are the Republicans prepared to deny citizenship to the children of American citizens born outside the USofA? Better be careful -- remember -- John McCain was born in Panama while his father was stationed there in the Navy.
Just wondering.
