On a day when a fired Jet Blue flight attendant becomes a national hero and Robert Gibbs bites off the hand that feeds him, it's hard to claim that a single photo might summarize the average intelligence of the average American, but I offer you this:
I've written quite seriously (with appropriate references) about the GOP's 30 year effort to dumb down the American electorate starting with Reagan's "Back to Basics" movement--an effort to erase that pesky logical reasoning from the American curriculum.
But thousands of words can't top this single photo, taken in Florida yesterday.
First, does the driver know what socialism is? Forcing insurance companies to insure only the very sick, while exempting the healthy (until they get very sick) is socialism--NOT the current health care bill.
And second, who would produce a bumper sticker that asked Democrats to "by American?" (Sic) Someone who supported the auto industry and its miraculous "bail out" ("Bridge to somewhere?") Someone who thought Democrats were all driving Yugos? Or someone so stupid that they produced and sold a huge bumper sticker with a mis-spelled word in it? (Evidently spelling is not one of the Reagan basics.)
This isn't the only "stupid" driving around here. The guy in Boca who has "Thanks, Obama, for no raise in social security this year" evidently doesn't know that the formulas were set in the Bush years. And there are hundreds of other idiocies. (Makes you kinda wonder--if they can't think how can they drive?)
This short diary actually does have a more serious point. The "something for nothing crowd" (cue the steam, Keith) is so logic-challenged that no manner of information sharing is going to convince them. The Obama administration is logic-based, and perhaps therefore doomed to fail.
