I promised myself. I really did. I made a pact that I wouldn't get involved in the latest GOP / Fox News manufactured outrage.
But after observing that all the major news networks were going wall-to-wall Cordoba House coverage, I had to say something. I really did.
Over the fold...
I was not in NYC at the time the 9/11 attacks occurred. I was some 75 miles down the NJ Parkway, at a trade show in Atlantic City. That's a story in and of itself. But one of my coworkers was at the WTC complex (he walked out of NYC, back to NJ). And I eventually lost my job when the company I was working for went out of business, because our major client in WTC 1 just disappeared, for all intents and purposes.
So I have a direct connection to the event.
This "mosque" thing has got to be the most asinine waste of media space EVAH.
But it's certainly allowing the GOP to show their real colors...
I wonder if one - even one - of the Republican finger wavers and Fox News talking heads can tell me what this picture represents?
Tell me what it is, where it was, and what it represents, and you've established your creds to talk about the WTC site and express faux outrage. Otherwise...
STFU.
(I'll update this diary with a link to the story about this picture a bit later.)
Update: Here's the backstory on the picture, from one of my trips into the city in 2004.
