Instead of everyone saying the government takes to much from you, what if we reframe the argument. Instead of letting people think the government is taking your money, it needs to be stated more that you're paying the government for its services.
This idea will need expanded and hammered out so please add your ideas in the comments.
You pay the grocery store for your food. You pay the clothing store for your clothes. Why shouldn't it be stated that you pay the government for your roads. For your protection. For subsidizing your foreign oil. For educating you and your children. If you don't have children its still a public service worth paying for to have everyone educated.
Of course there'll be talk that people shouldn't have to pay for say fruit fly research or something they don't comprehend. While researching fruit flies is good long term for society, if its something like curing diseases, most people would rather cut it than think of the long term benefits. So instead of saying you're paying for it, say that you're just paying back for the research that was done before you paid. For things like the Internet, velcro, or any number of things in our everyday lives now that were initially funded by the government.
You pay for other people's health care is an insurance policy against pandemics AND insurance in case you need that government healthcare one day.
Basically instead of thinking of taxes as the government taking money, its buying services from the government.
Yes there's some holes in the argument that would need to be filled in, but maybe you can help with that.
