in the pot ready to go.
The only thing left is to turn the heat up, pop it in, roast very well and we're done
This has been said before of course, but it seems that this time (insert prayer to God, Dog, Pluto or whoever) it's true.
Some of this has been diaried already, some of it not, I have a few choice tidbits you probably didn't know and a different slant on some of it.
People who don't want to comment or read about Palin (and I don't blame you) have my deep understanding.
Anyone else follow me over the fold for the latest.
Let's start with Michael Yaki's statement.
http://en.wikipedia.org/...
Michael Yaki (born 1961) is a San Francisco attorney currently serving as a commissioner on the United States Commission on Civil Rights,[1]
Sarah Palin needs to put a muzzle on her grizzly tweeter. You cannot expect to run for national office and rush to the defense of anyone, black or white, who uses the n-word, much less Schlessinger's verbal carpet n-bombing on a nationally syndicated radio show. It may play in a bar in Wasilla, but it has no place on a national stage.
What was she thinking? Was she thinking? Is she that desperate for national attention that if someone attacked the truth of the Holocaust, she'd be talking about "here are some people who I don't necessarily agree with what they're saying but their right to say it is constitutionally protected and you have to look at it in context because the liberal mainstream media is on a jihad"?
There are limits, and apparently she believes she's outside them, and in this case, she's going to find out what happens when you deliberately, ignorantly step into the extremely sensitive issue of race in America. It's stupid, it's insensitive, and it is just another fatal flaw in her mental make-up that makes her unfit for national office.
According to an article in The daily Beast, Black Republicans (who knew?), are less than chuffed,
http://www.thedailybeast.com/...
Earlier in the day, my colleague at The Daily Beast, Samuel P. Jacobs, got in touch with Timothy Johnson, chairman of the Frederick Douglass Foundation, the organization that helped recruit a record 32 African-American Republican congressional candidates this year—a feat first reported in The Daily Beast. Johnson was clear: "Sarah Palin is not the chair of the Republican Party. ... She is a leading Republican, but from what I can tell many black Republicans don’t use Sarah Palin as a benchmark. I hope Chairman Steele comes out in relationship to this issue. ...
As Michel Faulkner explained: "As a conservative running in Harlem, it is very difficult to get our message of responsible government out if all our spokespeople are wingnuts. We need people that understand how to bring our culture together and not divide us... [Sarah Palin] made it even more difficult for those of us who view ourselves as true conservatives in an age of political correctness, because racism can never be one of those things that we can accept without consequence
By mid-afternoon yesterday, RNC Chairman Michael Steele’s office was still offering no comment on this controversy. It is a silence he will not be able to keep indefinitely.
This puts Michael Steele in between a rock and a hard place (he must be getting used to this, bless), as he and Palin have, for some reason always backed each other up.
We all know that Palin's tweets about Dr. Laura started this whole new brouhaha, but what maybe some of you don't know is the strange timeline of said tweets.
The one tweet, before the Dr. Laura tweets has been overlooked to a large degree...........
Please watch this video youtube.com/watch?v=fIlCiX...
12:49 AM Aug 19th via web
This tweet, directing followers to a Liz Cheney video, went out from Sarah Palin via the web DURING Senator Ted Stevens funeral, which Palin was attending. In fact, it went out as Joe Biden was giving his eulogy. (classy huh?)
The go to blog for all things Palin, Palingates, had an eye witness account of the funeral.
http://palingates.blogspot.com/...
It would appear that Palin got a message on her blackberry that the tweet had gone out at an inopportune time, even some of her diehard fans were puzzled, I was watching them (LOL), they were shocked because they thought she did all her own stuff and they could see on C Span with their own eyes that she was sitting at a funeral. A site administrator quickly jumped on it and shut them up.
The next two tweets, IMHO, were sent out by Palin in a desperate attempt to change the subject. This is something she does regularly.
According to the eye witness, and others, the next tweet went out within 15 minutes of the funeral ending. It took the guests at least 15 minutes to get outside the church.
So Sarah, bereft of 'Uncle Ted', walked into the churchyard and tweeted this....
Dr.Laura:don't retreat...reload! (Steps aside bc her 1st Amend.rights ceased 2exist thx 2activists trying 2silence"isn't American,not fair")
and this.......
.Dr.Laura=even more powerful & effective w/out the shackles, so watch out Constitutional obstructionists. And b thankful 4 her voice,America!
Now I think she had forgotted how odious Dr. Laura had been about her..
Here was part of Dr. Laura’s blog post September 2, 2008.
I’m stunned – couldn’t the Republican Party find one competent female with adult children to run for Vice President with McCain? I realize his advisors probably didn’t want a "mature" woman, as the Democrats keep harping on his age. But really, what kind of role model is a woman whose fifth child was recently born with a serious issue, Down Syndrome, and then goes back to the job of Governor within days of the birth?
I am haunted by the family pictures of the Palins during political photo-ops, showing the eldest daughter, now pregnant with her own child, cuddling the family’s newborn. When Mom and Dad both work full-time (no matter how many folks get involved with the children), it becomes a somewhat chaotic situation. Certainly, if a child becomes ill and is rushed to the hospital, and you’re on the hotline with both Israel and Iran as nuclear tempers are flaring, where’s your attention going to be? Where should your attention be? Well, once you put your hand on the Bible and make that oath, your attention has to be with the government of the United States
I think she had also forgotten this............
http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/...
"I would ask the president to show decency in this process by eliminating one member of [his] inner circle, Mr. Rahm Emanuel," Palin wrote in February. "The Obama Administration's Chief of Staff scolded [liberal critics] calling them, 'F---ing retarded,' according to several participants, as reported in the Wall Street Journal. Just as we'd be appalled if any public figure of Rahm's stature ever used the "N-word" or other such inappropriate language, Rahm's slur on all God's children with cognitive and developmental disabilities - and the people who love them - is unacceptable, and it's heartbreaking."
Sarah has oviously since then been reminded of Dr. Laura's enmity toward her and regretted the reckless tweets. Dr. Laura has been in touch with Palin.......... Too funny, she thinks Sarah is her new BFF.
http://www.drlaura.com/...
I spoke with her yesterday and told her how impressed I was with her character. You don’t see such character much these days. I believe most folks would have had a more negative approach considering I had not been supportive at that time. But, nope, not Sarah. She is gracious and a woman of principles – no petty reaction.
She and I have a lot in common. We both find ourselves on the receiving end of vitriolic partisan attacks. We both made huge changes in our lives to be able to protect the people we love and have a freer context in which to try to help America’s families.
By the way, we had to end our conversation after a few minutes because she had to get her kidlet off to first day at school. Seriously adorable moment.
Standing up for racism equated with character, how chummy. Kidlet?, Seriously adorable moment?
Blech!, Sarah couldn't get her off the phone quick enough, since when did she ever take her kids to school?
I have loads more about the Joe Miller, Lisa Murkowski primary in Alaska, Todd and Sarah Palin begging for money for Miller, but will stop for now as this is enough to be going on with.....
Just this, couldn't resist.......
