An idea shaped by King and Obama and up to us to make true:

The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice.

It bends towards justice.

But here's the thing. It doesn't bend on its own. It bends because each of us puts our hand on that arc, and we bend it in the direction of justice

We each have the power to bend that arc over the next 10 weeks. ONLY 10 WEEKS!!! Ten weeks left until Election Day 2010. We can sit and watch an avalanche collapse on top of us, or with a little jujitsu and leg work, we can humiliate Republicans at the polls.

Of the Senate races this year, someone once said:

  • Joe Sestak will never win his primary
  • Jack Conway will never win his primary
  • Harry Reid doesn't have a fighting chance
  • Sue Lowden will never lose her primary
  • Lisa Murkowski will never lose her primary

The only poll that matters now is on Tuesday, November 2. We don't bend the arc by quoting polls or convential wisdom or talking about what happened in 1994. We bend the arc by getting behind our candidates and pulling that arc toward justice.

What we can do below the fold...

The 10 Week To-Do List

  1. Donate as much money as you can, like you're Oprah rich (and let's ask Oprah too)
  1. Dedicate weekends, evenings, and vacation days to Get Out the Vote
  1. Get excited about our slate of candidates. We have some seriously good candidates.

Progressives hit the jackpot with Senate candidates in Kentucky, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and now even Alaska. Races in Iowa, Delaware, and Ohio can still come home to us. We just have to fight.

Yes. We. Can. Run the G.D. Table in the Senate.

#47: We can win Washington.
#48: We can win Wisconsin.
#49: We can win West Virginia.
#50: We can win California. (Go Boxer!)
#51: We can win Connecticut.
#52: We can win Illinois.
#53: We can win Ohio.
#54: We can win Pennsylvania. (Go Sestak!)
#55: We can win Colorado.
#56: We can win New Hampshire.
#57: We can win North Carolina. (Go Marshall!)
#58: We can win Nevada.
#59: We can win Missouri.
#60: We can win Kentucky. (Go Conway!)
#61: We can win Delaware.
#62: We can win Alaska. (Go McAdams!)
#63: We can win the Florida three-way.
#64: We can win Iowa. (Go Conlin!)
#65: We can win Indiana.
#66: We can win Louisiana.
#67: We can win Arizona. That'd be 67 danged seats right there.
#68: We can win Arkansas. Miracles have already happened many times over this year.

Our time is now. Our climb for gains is much steeper in 2012 and 2014 when many, many fewer Republican Senate seats are open. They're down to only 41 seats! 41! Forty-effing-one!

Our time is now.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
