The Second City Network has a wonderful series of videos starring a "Sassy Gay Friend" http://www.youtube.com/... who shows up in the nick of time to save women like Eve, from the Bible, and Ophelia from Shakespeare's Hamlet, from doing stupid things like eating the wrong apple or killing themselves over a worthless guy like Hamlet.

And so, I started to wonder, "What would George W. Bush's Presidency have been like if he had a Sassy Gay Friend to advise him?" Would he have truly been a "compassionate conservative?" Would he have toned down the anti-gay rhetoric in the GOP? Would he have acted to protect all the gays and lesbians serving in the military under "Don't ask, don't tell?" And would he have worked to make the atmosphere in Washington a friendlier, gayer place to work out the solutions to the many problems facing America?
Well, as we all know by now, George W. Bush did actually have a Sassy gay friend working for him during his Presidency. Ken Mehlman ran his re-election campaign and served as the head of the GOP, but during all that time he never lifted a finger to try and improve the quality of life for lesbians and other gay men like himself. He did nothing but actively work to keep gays and lesbians from ever escaping their persecuted, second class citizen role in American society.
So as it turns out, having a Sassy Gay Friend only works to one's advantage if he's not an immoral, unethical coward like Ken Mehlman.
