A Norwegian representant in the European Council, representing the ruling Socialist Left party, has suggested that art of Kjetil Finne shall be shown in the Council next autumn.
The photos have already been shown in an exhibiton in Norway in 2008. It was then praised by Norway´s foreign minister from Labor, Jonas Gahr Støre, and it was economically supported by the much respected institution Fritt Ord (Free Speech) which is lead by the former chairman of the Nobel Peace Prize Committee, Francis Sejersted.
The artistic committee of the European Council initally accepted that Finne´s photos should be shown, but there are now signs it may be backtracking because of the strong, political nature of the photos, which someone also claims are anti-semittic
The exhibiton is named after Cliff Hotel which used to be owned by a Palestinian man and his Norwegian wife and was a gathering place for intellectuals from all over the words, but after the mural was build it was confiscated by the Israeli state.
Supporters of the photos:
Karin Andersen, mp Norway, representing Socialist Left Party
Jonas Gahr Støre, foreign minister of Norway, Labor
Francis Sejersted, chairman of the instituion Free Speech, former chairman of the Nobel Peace Committee, member of the Conservative Party in Norway.
