In the darkes days of last summer, Charlie Cook identified one race which looked possible for a Democrat to replace a Republican in the US House -- IL 10, where the Democratic candidate was Dan Seals. These days, the chances look brighter for more Democrats, but Dan still has to win.
His main web page is here.
Dan ran twice against Mark Kirk, who runs -- if not votes -- as a moderate. He got close. This time, Kirk is running for senate. Dan's opponent is Bob Dold, a real right-winger. Dan has support from right-to-choose and conservation groups which backed Kirk last time. These groups have significant influence in the district.
I walked precincts during Seals's two previous races. This year, my legs aren't good enough. (I'm 68 and broke my hip nearly two years ago. This has slowed me down.) I've been doing office work for the campaign. My groups, Northside [Chicago] DFA goes out once a month -- mostly to canvass.
Seals needs workers if you're in N. IL. His campaign also needs money. Anything you could contribute could be the difference in this race.
