Can you believe it?  They let me out on the streets today!  The crazy is back on dKos... Hello Beautiful World!

Well, being in the clinic since June 15th has put me out of touch with the world at large.  But it has helped immensely.  They got me on 30mg Mirtazapin and 10mg Escitalopram (Cipralex) and it seems to be working.  I've actually have been able to focus on my dissertation research and learn a thing or two, something that was not possible before.

In fact academically, life is forging full speed ahead.  I was able to submit an abstract and I am waiting to hear if I am giving a conference paper at next year's Studientag zum Englischen Mittelalter (SEM) XIII Conference in Freiburg next March.  It's titled Original Sin in Heorot and Valinor and it looks at original sin being kin-slaying (i.e. Cain) in Beowulf and J.R.R. Tolkien's Silmarillion (rather than the violation of the prohibition of eating from the Tree of Knowledge) and the Germanic Hero-ethos/Northern Courage it produces.

In addition to the PhD, I've taken on a second Masters in linguistics and start this fall semester (October 15th here in Germany).  Only one class per semester though, until I defend my dissertation.

I've found a new apartment in the city-center for less than here in the Guest-house and I won my VA disability case.  I still haven't received a rating from the VA yet as they want a current C&P exam.  However, I have an appointment with a shrink for a psychiatric exam and the fact that I just spent the last three months in in-patient care and, by the doctor's suggestion, that a district judge has assigned a guardian to handle my affairs, I should probably get a good rating for the PTSD and Severe Depression.

I should plug Congressman Tom Perriello  (D, VA-05) here, since his office has been nothing but outstanding in helping me with my disability claim.  I was very surprised at the help for constituents from his office, more helpful and eager to help than usual.  He's an endangered Dem in Virginia, help him if you can.

Lastly, I've found a very, very cool girlfriend.  After two years I began to think that I was too old, not attractive, and that part of life was over for me.  Then walks Marita into my life.

Meine geile dreckigische sächsische Sau

Yep, I hooked up with a Saxon - at least her temperament is better than my last girlfriend - a Hessian.

And to think, I almost said GBCW for reals last June, and I don't mean just on the internet.  My outlook has completely changed, and I feel refreshed to participate once again here.  But not so often as before, real life calls, academic life calls, and it is all too short.  It's all good, Leben ist jetzt noch ein mal schön!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
