Just for fun. It's Friday afternoon in my time zone. I hope everyone reading this had a good week. The title above refers to this comment by Steveningen, referring to a group of Jehova's Witnesses.
It made me chuckle and I wondered if anyone out there finds "nouns of assemblage" amusing and fun. Real examples are descriptors like a murder of crows, or a cloud of gnats.
I'm assuming the "gaggle of Witnesses" was written for comic effect, and is not really a common way to describe a group of Jehovah's Witnesses. It got me thinking about some other possible descriptors.
For example, for witnesses of another kind, namely the ones who testify in court, I thought of "a tattle of witnesses."
A few more originals (at least I think they're original. I may be recalling them subconsciously):
...a leaning of moderates.
...a rash of TeaBaggers.
...a devotion of Obama supporters.
...a hollow of Republicans.
...a PAC of blue-dogs.
...a lobby of Senators
...a resentment of Naderites.
...a rand of Libertarians.
You get the idea. Got any of your own? They don't have to be political. Come on and play! It's Friday!
