First off, I'm not talking about all the fine and upstanding rich people. I'm talking about everyone else.
We punish the rich for hoarding their money instead of letting it "trickle down" like they insisted it would if their taxes were only lower. Instead wages are stagnant and while cost of living expenses rise to the point where people become depenent upon government assistance. And how to we pay for those government programs? Taxes. Who do we tax? the rich. Why? Because they're the only ones with any money to spend right now. So. Either increase wages or pay for government assistance programs. Pay now or pay later, but you will pay.
But it's more than just direct economics. We also punish those whose increase of wealth and comfort requires the destruction of those things in others. From oil rigs to mines, some of the rich are actively ignoring safety measures designed to keep their workers alive. They want to repeal all those pesky "regulations" because in their eyes those 11 souls who lost their lives on the oil rig are expendable. We should consider them acceptable losses and sing the praises of deregulation and a free-market economy as we bury them. Making the rich richer should be our top priority.
They put lives in danger, play towns against each other, bust unions, ship jobs overseas and call the people who they screw lazy and the people who object socialists. What did they think would happen: that the people whose lives they destroy would thank them for it? Apparently. We raise taxes on the rich for the same reason the rich reduces deregulation. They make their livelihood on the backs of others. I don't think it ever occured to them that other people might do the same thing for them. If they can enrich their lives at the expense of the of the middle class, then why can't the middle class try to enrich their own lives at the expense of the rich?
I'll tell you why. It's because the problem isn't the rich, it's government spending and Obama is a socialist. That's what's keeping America from prospering. Really. Freedomworks told me so.
