Rep. Maxine Waters: "I'm oftentimes stunned by what I hear on Fox, particularly when you have hosts talking about anchor babies and all of that. Explain to me, what's the difference in your being here and what you DO NOT DO with your media network?"
(crosstalk)
Murdoch: "We handle all views on Fox. If you wish to come and state these views, we'd love to have you on Fox News."
Rep. Waters: "No. I don't want to be on Fox News."
(laughter in the audience)
Murdoch goes on to state that "We are NOT anti-immigrant on Fox News."
O Rly?

And yet here is Glenn Beck from TODAY . . .
Beck calls NCLR a "nasty, take America and give it to the Mexicans" group
Or how about this from a week ago, where Fox & Friends attacked the DREAM act?
Fox & Friends attacked a bill establishing a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as children and who enroll in college or enlist in the military, and criticized its placement in a defense spending bill. However, military experts agree that it would strengthen the military, and Republicans have previously added non-military legislation to defense bills.
Or how about this one, where Fox promotes false claim that 14th Amendment was not meant to apply to children of immigrants
Fox has repeatedly aired an Arizona State Senator Russell Pearce's (R) false claim that the 14th Amendment was "never" meant to apply to the children of "aliens, legal, or illegal." However, scholars, the Congressional Research Service, and the Supreme Court have concluded that the amendment applies to children born in the United States, regardless of their parents' immigration status.
Oh, and there is lots more where that comes from. After all, we are talking about Fox News, Republicans and brown people, and nowadays, if you can't blame brown people for Wall Streets sins, you have no chance of winning a Republican primary.
First of all, kudos to Rep. Waters for saying flat out "No. I don't want to be on Fox News." No Democrat should go on Fake News, or as I like to call them. Foreign Owned Xenophobia News.
For a little background on why Murdoch appeared before Congress, check this out.
Earlier this year, Murdoch indicated that the media should be involved in the push for comprehensive immigration reform. However, Fox News employees don’t seem to agree. The Wonk Room shows that more than any other network, Fox News has repeatedly and consistently advocated against immigration reform and referred to Murdoch’s proposal as "amnesty."
Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) called Murdoch out on the blatant contradiction later in the hearing, pointing out, "it does not appear that what you are talking and the way you are discussing it is the way it is discussed on Fox." Murdoch defended his position and his network:
We are home to all views on Fox. [...] We don’t censor that or take any particular line at all. We are not anti-immigrant on Fox News. [...] We certainly employ a lot of immigrants at Fox. In all arms of Fox. We have many immigrants there and we do not take a consistent anti-immigrant line.

I could go on and on about the pure LIES that demonize immigrants given air time on Fox, but strangely, it is very hard to find anything GOOD about immigration reform on Fox. Or anything positive about America's first black President who happens to be a Democrat. Or anything positive about gay people, or black people, or anyone who is not Conservative, christian, wealthy, white and male. Fair and balanced, indeed.
So congratulations to House Rep. Maxine Waters. Way to speak truth to power! Because Fox News is NOT REAL NEWS. It is the media arm of the Republican party, or it is the leadership of the Republican party. It is so hard to tell the difference these days, if there ever was one to begin with.
