You should vote.
EVERYONE should vote.
It's what America is about, it's a chance to participate in Democracy, and .... it will piss someone off.
When my grandmother turned 21, she couldn't vote. It was 1919, and women weren't allowed to vote yet.
So, if you're female VOTE. It will piss off the Neanderthals who think that women belong in the bedroom and kitchen.
Blacks got the vote long before that, but anyone who thinks they REALLY got the vote when the law said they did .... well, you need to read some history.
So, if you're Black .... VOTE
It will piss off Strom Thurmond's ghost. (And lots of living bigots).
If you're Latino ..... VOTE, because "YOUR PAPERS PLEASE" is unAmerican.
If you're a teacher .... VOTE because the Republicans want to strip you of tenure and unions. (see teacherken's diary on The George W. Bush institute to train principals (no, I am NOT kidding).
If you (like me) are learning disabled, VOTE. Because before Kennedy and the Democrats started getting us some rights, some of us were put in institutions, and I don't imagine voting was a big issue in those places.
If you, or your ancestors, come from a place where voting isn't allowed. VOTE. Because your ancestors want you to.
If you want to piss off the plutocrats. VOTE.
If you're young, vote ... 'cause you're going to be living on this planet longer than I am.
If you're American VOTE. Because some people put their lives on the line so that you could stand in line, cast your ballot, and vote.
VOTE.
And help others do so, too.
