This will be short. But with the outrageous, disgusting, and hateful comments that have come from the likes of Robertson, Limbaugh, and echoed by FOX Nation today about the tragedy that has hit Haiti, at least someone in the FOX house has a soul. Of course once again it's Shephard Smith.
Responding to the vile verbal vomit spewed by Pat Robertson, Smith called him out but good:
SMITH: The people of Haiti have been used and abused by their government over the years. They have dealt with unthinkable tragedy day in and day out. And we’re in the middle of a crisis the Western Hemisphere has not seen in my lifetime, and 700 miles east of Miami, hundreds of thousands of desperate human beings need our help, our support, our money, and our love. And they don’t need that.
And here's the video:
I ask myself why Smith continues to stay at FOX. Today I know the answer. If he left, there would be no one who would speak out. The four horses asses of the Apocalypse: Beck, Hannity, O'Reilly and now Palin? Surely not. I don't know how he brings himself to stay there but today I'm glad he does.
Update: Rec List? Really? Thank you.
Additional Thoughts: Rachel Maddow is once again demonstrating talent and skill beyond measure. Her entire show thus far has been devoted to Haiti from multiple perspectives. From the immediate aid needed to the geopolitical realities of what our actions or inactions mean, it has been brilliant.
I mention this because it contrasts so starkly to how networks like FOX, people like Limbaugh and Robertson use their bully pulpits to spew negativity and cruelty.
