Hello. I'm trying to break the habit but the last two sunsets were so good to watch. Yesterday was a miserable rainy day, like tropical rainstorm rain only cold. The sky cleared in the late afternoon just long enough for a great sunset view and then the rain returned. Today was a drive by sunset and I finally got my chance for a Cathedral frame for the sun.
Not quite as good as this old drive by photo of mine;
But still pretty damn good.
Below the fold is Monday's and tonight's sunset. I hope you enjoy them.
Yesterday's sunset was fast because the sun was not out very long but the timing was perfect. It took tonight's sunset to make this one diary worthy but it was uplifting. A great sight after such a dark day with a few good views.
I was so dark yesterday here that I had the lights on like it was nighttime. After all that rain and darkness, suddenly the sky began to clear.
And heavenly streaks of the best disinfectant looked promising.
The sun burned through for an instant.
A cup of clouds looked like the end of the view but the clouds were moving around fast.
Then it got really interesting.
You don't see views like this too often on rainy days;
The sun was lost but the end of the day was the brightest it ever was.
Then it ended as quickly as it began and the down pour came back.
And after dark it looked like it was New Jersey's turn for a break.
Tonight's sunset was a ten mile fun sun chase. It started on Riverside Drive somewhere around 84th Street.
Then a walk to the 91th Street Garden that you might remember as the place wher Meg Ryan found out that Tom Hanks was her chat mate in "You've Got Mail."
Through the tunnel under the West Side Highway and take a look from 95th and the Hudson River.
Okay in the car and 145th Street and Riverside looks like a good pit stop.
I make another stop at The Cloisters.
Then another quarter mile or so south to the Ft. Tryon Park garden.
Notice how far the sun moved in relation to the George Washington Bridge. So if I split the distance between the Cloisters and the garden...
Now check out this bonus. Back uphill, huffing and puffing, to the garden and another sunset!
I'll bet you thought that I never leave the apartment. Once in a while I go out but never in the dark.
Update: I left out Home Sweet Home.
There that's better.
