The republicans/tea party has said they have 10 points; I thought I’d list them, 2 at a time and give my thoughts and concerns. This is 7 & 8
- Defund, Repeal & Replace Government-run Health Care: Defund, repeal and replace the recently passed government-run health care with a system that actually makes health care and insurance more affordable by enabling a competitive, open, and transparent free-market health care and health insurance system that isn't restricted by state boundaries.
First off to clear up one thing there’s only two government-run healthcare systems, Medicare and the VA. To call what President Obama passed government-run healthcare is nothing short of a lie. To require everyone to carry healthcare should help to bring down the cost, there won’t be people showing up in emergency rooms without the funds or insurance to pay for their treatment.
All government run, tell granny that she has to go back to work, no more Medicare. And don’t to forget to tell the Vets that sacrificed so much for their country that their health care is out the window, time for them to get up out of their wheelchairs and get back to work.
You want to make insurance affordable for everyone, make all insurance companies non-profit, they will than only make enough extra money to pay for their payroll and nothing more. The system will only be fair and work properly when it’s no designed to pay investors instead of hospitals and doctors.
- Pass an 'All-of-the-Above' Energy Policy: Authorize the exploration of proven energy reserves to reduce our dependence on foreign energy sources from unstable countries and reduce regulatory barriers to all other forms of energy creation, lowering prices and creating competition and jobs.
This one was written in such a naive way that I considered not even answering it. First to reduce our dependence on foreign energy we have to reduce out need for it. We create more alternative full vehicles and we reduce the need for oil, goes without saying. The oil that is pumped from the thousands of wells in the Gulf of Mexico is not always sent to US refineries. Even if it was our refineries are working at 100% capacity so delivering more all won’t mean a thing, it can’t be processed.
I think we should increase regulations; one that I would impose is that the top ten of every company are 100% responsible for anything that occurs. If people die on their watch they go to prison for murder. Regulations are not barriers if they protect workers and the environment, no regulations are to extreme in these cases.
You want to create jobs there are hundreds of ways. Not even a mile down the street from my house his the Air Force base I retired from. They’ve been rebuilding the base house and in addition to the new houses they put in a field of solar panels, hundreds of them to reduce the carbon foot print of the base. Why not do this on a larger scale, put solar panels on all the houses, apartments and offices in Tucson and make it into the largest power plant in the nation.
