After Jan's "hard decisions" on health care for grownups started exacting tolls on its first victims, more "hard decisions" have left kids high and dry.
During Jan Brewer's two years as the state's accidental governor, she has presided over $72 million worth of cuts that were slated to pay for children's health services (Source). Cuts weren't enough for Jan though, and she decided that she wanted to eliminate KidsCare outright- and if it weren't for the pesky federal government, she would've gotten away with it too!
But that didn't stop Jan from halting enrollment anyway. Today, nearly 20,000 more kids go without insurance.
Here in Arizona, the Republican health care plan outlined by Alan Grayson is coming to life.
- Don't Get sick
- If you do, die quickly
At least one columnist at the Arizona Republic (conservative leaning Phoenix metro area paper) has pointed out Jan's hypocrisy:
Seriously?
It’s like having Lindsay Lohan declare it Drug Free Day.
Or having Mel Gibson declare it Ethnic Tolerance Day.
In her brief tenure in the state’s top political job, Gov. Brewer has had more to do with dismantling state programs that benefit children than anyone before her. We can argue over whether the cuts were necessary or not given the state’s budgetary crisis. But the fact is the programs have been slashed. - EJ Montini
This comes just one day after Jan received the Republic's endorsement. Their main draw? No, it wasn't Jan's eloquence (or general ability to communicate to other human beings), and it wasn't her actual plans for the future. It was
Brewer['s] [..] track record for handling our conservative Legislature.
...
With the Democrat Goddard on the Ninth Floor, the prospect of a paralyzing, California-like standoff between the governor and legislative conservatives becomes all too possible.
The Arizona Republic knows that once elected, "Rubberstamp Jan" will bend to the legislatures will. Bills that play to birthers (a bill to check the birth certificate of any Federal candidate), and anti-birthrighters (repealing birthright citizenship for children of undocumented immigrants) will be given free reign. Cuts to Medicaid, education, and basic services will not just not create jobs- it will drive them away. But the propaganda keeps coming.
With your help Jan's rubberstamp for the legislature can be averted.

GOTV.
And spread the word (tweet and post wall to wall)- Jan Brewer and Republicans are the real death panels. The sick, the young, and the poor will all be their victims.
Jan, we won't forget what you've done to our state. We Arizonans are coming. You better take Montini's advice:
From what I’ve heard, the people who try to improve the lot of sick, poor or otherwise needy children believe that there is only one thing Gov. Brewer could do to ensure a successful 'Arizona Child Health Day:'
Resign.- EJ Montini
