After watching Ron Paul on last evening's Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell, I came away perplexed as to how these men (Rand and Ron), cannot better address their stated aversion to the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
Ron Paul attempted to set the stage for the interview with an assertion that he was duped by a Last Word producer. He stated that he was assured that he would not to be asked about other candidates for the congressional races. O'Donnell disavowed the promised agreement and moved on. But, my diary is not about media gamesmanship or lack their of. The diary is about a scientific observation from a pioneer in Earthly gravity and the common apple.
Gravity? The apple does not fall far from the tree?
Oh Yes! Lawrence O'Donnell took another step towards revealing the heart and soul of the Paul Family. Ron Paul via the following video validated my belief, and assertion, that apples really do not fall far from the tree.

As far as my assertion that Rand adopted his beliefs and thoughts from his family background; I will admit that I 'fudged'. (I understand such deep-rooted beliefs and paradigm come directly from family, first, before reinforcement via other social interactions.)
Many commentators are noble in their attempts to pin the Pauls down on their un-professed beliefs in forms of segregation. In fact, the Pauls and the majority of us viewers also think in terms of segregated lunch counters and restrictions to the back of the bus. We fail to realize or acknowledge that Civil Rights Legislation far exceeds that limited view. The law as passed in 1964 was intended to provide fair and equitable treatment for women, other non-black minorities, and white males over age 40 years of age. White males over age 40? The apparent age at which white males potentially start to experience discrimination in the workplace. If the commentators were more adept at understanding the intricacies of the laws they could pose questions to people like the Pauls; questions that would completely upset their 'applecart' of "safezone" negative views of the legislation.
The O'Donnell interview was not masterful in any sense but it was effective in exposing Paul's views. I wondered if he would attempt to expose and disarm the elder Paul and O'Donnell accomplished just that. I think Paul's rambling Palin-like utterances provided clear evidence of his inability to adequately explain his innate thoughts of 'private' ownership. Paul's ineffective attempt to link privacy regarding restaurant lunch counters with privacy in the bed-room is about as ludicrous as his attempts to link Martin Luther King's philosophies and beliefs to libertarianism. Paul's comments on groups vs the individual might work in arguments that are outside of the scope of the Civil Rights Act of 1964; but I doubt it.
Another amazement is Ron Paul's complete inability to quickly discern questions and subsequently answer the questions without the aforementioned Palin-like rambling.
I do find Paul's assertion that he was manipulated via a LAST WORD staffer interesting. If O'Donnell does not address that assertion by Paul, I will lose faith in the integrity of his program.
