With the midterm elections fast approaching, one would hope the Democrats (as well as progressive liberals!) would be canvassing their neighborhoods and working to get out the vote. After the last elections, the Democrats set up a website to counter Republican accusations and misunderstandings.
Recently a new application for Android phones was released called VoterMap (http://www.androidzoom.com/android_applications/news_and_weather/votermap_jxon.html). It provides anonymous political discussion throughout the country, even the globe. It is apparently dominated by right wing idealogues spewing Faux News Talking Points.
Here's a shout out to rational, sane people with Android phones. There are too few of us on there now to counter the idiocy being posted. Please install the app and help bring reason to a small portion of cyberspace, before the elections.
Here are just a few of the current threads:
"NomoObama. No socialism, no more spending, no more progressive judges, no more government takeovers, no more apologies for American wealth"
"Hypothetical question, you make 50 dollars an hour, half of that, 25 dollars an hour is taken through taxes by your government and a portion of that is given to someone who "needs it", what is that called? (hint it is not capitalism)"
"It is time to elect officials who will stand up for conservative American values. Not people who say one thing on the campaign & when they get to Washington, forget what got them elected. Go Spike and Rease."
"What's the difference between a liberal and a progressive?"
"Obama says Republicans want Black people to stay home on election day. What a stereotypical, racist, jerk"
"The days of Republicans vs. Democrats has gone. The two parties have caused total destruction of themselves and now the choice is clear. Left wing fringe radical or Constitutionalists."
"Democrat leftist tyranny or liberty. You can't have both."
"Death to the liberal agenda! Time to restore america to the conservitive values of the founding fathers of this great nation."(sic)
"Liberalism breeds terrorism. Discuss."
You get the idea. There appear to be only a few of us trying to defend against this massive ignorance, so please feel free to roll up your sleeves and wade in and give us a hand. It might be an uphill battle, but it would be worthwhile to defend our core principles and maybe even reach a few people along the way, hopefully before the elections.
Hope you can help!
