We ask so much of our service members and their families.
We ask them to put themselves in harm's way.
They do it, whether the civilian authority in charge is wise or foolish.
We ask them to come home, having risked death or grievous harm and dealt the same out to others on our behalf, and integrate back to civilian society.
And they try to do so, with scars seen and unseen.
But how, HOW can we ask this of them?
Obviously, we can't.
Hopefully, you all have already seen the Rachel Maddow interviews this clip is from. If not, please do so, and tell everyone you know to do so as well.
Since I saw these brave men describe what they and their families go through under DADT, this question has been running through my head, and it is one I dearly wish I could ask President Obama.
What if this were Sasha or Malia? Would you want them treated this way?
Whether the Senate acts, or the House stays in non-homophobic hands, or the old men at the top of military hierarchy get the willies at the prospect of teh gay going unpunished in the ranks is at this moment beside the point.
This injustice lays entirely within your hands to remedy, Mr. President.
And there is no one else to point to if you do not end this abomination.
