UPDATE: Per my comment below, Alexi Giannoulias today accused Mark Kirk of "economic treason" regarding those May fundraisers Kirk held via videolink with Americans in Beijing. That's set off quite the debate over at The Capitol Fax Blog.
I now return you to my regularly scheduled diary...
What better way to ruin a nice fall day than to read that Shrub is coming to Chicago's suburbs next spring.
According to the Chicago Tribune's Elgin TribLocal page, George W. Bush is scheduled to speak at Judson University, a small evangelical Christian liberal arts college in Elgin, on April 13, 2011, in its inaugural "World Leaders Forum."
His topic? "Free Enterprise: The Dream of All People." (This isn't a joke. Really. It isn't.) And he's slated for an audience Q&A, such as they are with Republicans.
Is it just me, or does the college's chief flack sound just a bit defensive about it?
No matter your political interests, just to be in the presence of a former president of the United States is very inspiring," said Tory Gum, Judson’s vice president for external relations. "That is what we’re counting on for students and people from the Chicagoland area interested in attending.
Speaking of inspiring, here's Incentive No. 38,393,012 to GOTV in the Prairie State: Deny Shrub the opportunity to stand on stage with our governor and one of our U.S. senators.
Polls suggest close races between Pat Quinn and Bill "Indiana or Tennessee" Brady, and Alexi Giannoulias and Mark "Beijing Fundraiser" Kirk.
Don't let the R/AT (Republican/American Taliban) bastards win! GOTV, Illinois Kossacks!
Early voting runs through Thursday, Oct. 28. Find Illinois early voting sites by county, and Chicago early voting sites by ward.
Vote for Alexi twice: Once in the regular election and once in the court-ordered special election. And Cook County Kossacks get a bonus: Give Mike Madigan a peptic ulcer by voting Forrest Claypool for Cook County Assessor!
