From TPM:
He hailed Bunning's vote against TARP -- which most economists at the time said was necessary to prevent an economic collapse the likes of which the country had never seen -- as an example of heroism by Kentucky's retiring junior Senator.
Bunning "stood up and said the bank bailout was wrong," Paul said. "Many people can come later and say they would have opposed it, but he stood up and on principle voted the way he thought was right for Kentucky and I'm proud of him for that."
Other principles on which Bunning stood in the past couple years: Saying "tough shit" to Senators trying to extend unemployment benefits; and reducing the amount of money Medicare pays out to doctors by 21%. That last move puts Bunning at direct odds with Paul, who has called for keeping Medicare payments high because doctors "should be allowed to make a comfortable living."
Yes, Rand Paul, you souless piece of trash, Jim Bunning is a real role model. It's so nice to hear that you support a man who wanted to see the unemployed fall further into an abyss while he laughed on the sidelines. It's so constructive to tell the world how you are willing to vote AGAINST so many life-saving bills but offer absolutely NOTHING in terms of a solution to counter them.
And, by the way, libertarianism doesn't work. Maybe 200 years ago when all you needed to survive in the world was a mule and a patch of land (and, probably for libertarians, the mule had other purposes), but when you live in a land in a country of 307 million, systems need to be in place. Some of them complex. Leaving the world to run on individual steam and giving businesses a completly free reign is a fantasy. But you faux-republicans only seem to KNOW fantasy. Reality is too inconvenient for you. It topples your crudely developed theories.
By the way, I laugh when I call your beliefs "theories." They are hardly even that.
Don't like the civil rights amendments? Can't fathom that the people who destroyed our economy should have to comply to any regulations? Happy to see the unemployed fend for themselves because, after all, the world is about survival of the fittest? Well, not surprising. All anyone needs to do is look in your empty, belligerent eyes to see what's important to you (and your equally idiotic father).
Jim Bunning? Your hero? Well, fuck you - and I sincerely hope you, like George Wallace, have a change of heart in the future. But, if not, that's no surprise to me. People like you rarely see anything beyond your own navels.
