Wow it's already 11pm!? I should go to bed. Bennet's been ahead all night. It'll be close, but given Hick's performance, nothing much to see here. They keep showing Bennet trending with Udall in the bellwether counties. Then BAM!. . .
Around 11pm, ABC/Ch 7 reports that the AP gave Buck a 49%-47% lead. Just in time for most people's 11pm cutoff. Around 11:30pm, the AP had admitted that there was a typo, and CH 7's experts then said the surge hadn't matched their numbers (but they reported it anyway!).
Conveniently, this gave Buck a seemingly huge lead as people went to bed.
Win-win for the conservative AP. A) Republicans think Buck already won. The rural folks are just starting to report. El Paso County kept polls open because of a late surge. It could only get better for Buck from here. B) Republicans wake up with Bennet leading, wonder where that huge lead went, scream about acorn, and demand a recount.
Yes, Buck did pull ahead at 11pm, but he's within 1%. There was never a clear explanation given which precincts were reporting precincts. As it is now Buck is ahead. If we have a Senator by next June, it will be a surprise.
Gotta go to bed, but thought this should get out there. Nothing to see here!
