I know this isn't really a diary, and there's some other really good diaries about the upside from last night, but I thought I'd share what I just posted on FB in case anyone else wants to use it (or comment here, I'm online for a bit).

Ah well, the elections (mostly) over and it pretty much went the way predicted, which isn't entirely a bad thing.

First, BIG thanks to the Tea Party folks for helping the Dems keep control of the Senate. Without you nutcases involved in the primaries we'd have been in much worse shape.

Oh, and good work covering for an abysmally unpopular Republican party - but the Republicans are already ignoring you - I heard DeMint (big on Tea Parties, remember?) say that there won't be a "Tea Party Caucus" - they'll just caucus with the Conservative Republicans. The myth of "Tea Party Independence" shown for the lie it always was.

And here's to the Republicans in general, doubling down with their threats to shut down government again - since that worked out so well for them under Gingrich. Go for it guys! You OWN the "Party of NO", so keep it going. After all, it works so well for toddlers, it'll certainly work for you!

And the best part of this is that you Republicans believe you won! LOL! Which means you'll keep doubling down on the crazy stupid, guaranteeing yourself an even more marginal placement next time around. You saw what happened after you got everyone worked up about gay marriage in 2004 (so that GWB could have his second term) which perfectly set up 2006 and 2008. As usual, you think this works for you which will mean +4 for Obama and probably some winback in the Congress in 2012.

So, thanks for the memories, folks, and if you feel like posting, make sure you have your facts and lies sorted out before you click "share". I'm not in the mood to humour any of your typical truthiness.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
