As the discussions about the Great Keith Olbermann turn to inter-dimension chess theories and accusing him of "arrogance" (gasp), please consider this:
The Great Keith Olbermann may have known exactly what he was doing and the risks he was taking, but did it anyway because he believed donating to Congressman Grijalva's campaign was for the greater good.
Perhaps the Great Keith Olbermann decided that after many death threats to Congressman Grijalva along with an envelope with swatikas and white powder being sent to his office, that he HAD to break a rule and risk his job to do the right thing.
Maybe, the Great Keith Olbermann was so concerned of the fact that Governor Jan Brewer of Arizona was supporting the draconian immigration laws to help the private business, Corrections Corporation of America, that he felt he had no choice but to donate to Congressman Grijalva's campaign.
Congressman Raul Grijalva heroically stood up to Jan Brewer and the xenophobic Arizona populace and his life has been threatenend and office vandalized.
In addition to the disturbing trend of blaming America's hard-working hispanic population for the utter incompetence of Wall Street and bank's "too big to fail", Arizona is now trying to remove the freedom of thousands of human beings for profit. Call me crazy, but the Great Keith Olbermann may have said, "fuck it, I will risk my job and salary to assist the heroic Congressman Raul Grijalva and the hispanic population of Arizona because the republicons must be stopped".
Perhaps the Great Keith Olbermann is trying to set an example for all of us that if we don't start risking our means, we will surely lose those means to companies such as Corrections Corporation of America, and Bank of America, and the United States of America Chamber of Commerce. That is a lot of Americas, and we have always been at war with Eurasia.
Maybe, just maybe there was no 11 dimensional chess being played, but a man who just went for it, because the Great Keith Olbermann wanted to help defeat the idea that the profit motive is always the best motive, and imprisoning human beings for profit is reprehensible.
Or then again, the Great Keith Olbermann may have wanted to help his friend, Congressman Raul Grijalva who is under physical threat constantly for standing up against the crazy white people who care only about money.
I say that the Great Keith Olbermann is yet again ahead of the curve, ahead of us and he is setting another example of honor and integrity. He put country and human beings before himself and I think that is an example we should follow.
Keith Olbermann was able to crack the shell of conservative media with his show Countdown with Keith Olbermann during the Bush years when there was a pointed attempt to stifle progressive thought. There still is by the way. That is remarkable.
Keith Olbermann has displayed the ability and courage to challenge Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly, along with the Fox Republicon channel and he deserves our support.
The Great Keith Olbermann donated to some Democrats to help us, at his own risk. I applaud Mr. Keith Olbermann.
