When I used to deliver sandwiches as a teen (back in the halcyon days of 1993-1994) I had an old Plymouth Volare that my friend affectionately mis-named "the Lady Hawke." God, that car was an ugly box and she cornered as gracefully as a beached whale. She only had AM radio, and I listened to Rush Limbaugh on AM Talk when I finally got tired of AM Oldies. I can't bear to listen to Rush again after over a year of that nonsense.
Now I have a Scion xB. Alas, my friend has not yet named her. She has a nifty iPod adapter, so I get podcasts along with my FM, AM, and CD.
I'm looking for an honest libertarian type of right-wing podcast. I currently listen to BotL, Maddow, Planet Money, Marketplace, The Moth, and Democracy Now. (I drive a LOT in my career as a multi-site computer support tech.) The podcasts fill my drive time.
I don't want to suffer through the truly looney-tunes right-wing stuff, like Limbaugh or Beck. Does anyone know of any libertarian or moderate center-right podcasts that I can check out so I can hear some honest opposition arguments?
I maintain that Beck is even worse than Limbaugh. At least good old pill-poppin' Rush can be funny, in a ridiculous kind of way, if you squint your ears just so. Beck just seems crazy and whiny. Savage is a bit scary.
Since I'm so out of touch with the Right these days, I wanted to look in the window and see if there is anyone sane left in there.
I can't stand the papa-knows-best social conservatives, so I know I would just end up skipping those podcasts. And a pro-corporate, Evan Bayh-style podcast would be almost as bad. Sell-out. I'm thinking more of a libertarian-style, maybe a bit anti-corporate and anti-government. But no black helicopters. Does such an animal exist on the Right? I think it's about the only one I could listen to for an hour.
Ideas?
If not, then please let me know of any other cool left-leaning or informative NPR or BBC podcasts I should be listening to. I just (tonight) subscribed to Young Turks, Glen Greenwald, Stephanie Miller, Randi Rhodes, and Truthdig. (I already mentioned I currently listen to BestoftheLeft, Maddow, Planet Money, Marketplace, The Moth, and Democracy Now.)
Thanks!
