So, have any other missing - the - spotlight retired news folk ragged on Keith? Gadzooks, I hope not because if Mr. Koppel was supposed to set the "standard" in such criticism, he bit the big one in THAT regard.
Speaking of teh fail, let's move onto SPARK for today. I guess PBS is afraid one of my SPARK Hall of Famers is going to think they're a wolf, and she's gonna take aim at them from a helicopter. PBS...FAIL! And, some words of advice for all those cooks out there just over a week before Thanksgiving; uh, 'scuse me, your turkey's on fire. Then, there's this poor gobbler! And, I think I finally - FINALLY - have that whole Python appeal figured out. If Brits are willing to do this...
I'm noting just one "this day in history" item. On the surface, it will look like a bit of a downer, but I promise to make a HI - larious comeback! On this date in 2004, President George W. Bush picked National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice to be secretary of state, succeeding Colin Powell. Now, here's the HI - larious part. :D
Let's Countdown!
HA! OK, Keith’s gone from peeking into my diary drafts to SPY CAMERAS in my office. How the spark did he know that I watched Dr. Strangelove today between registration appointments?! :D
#5 "Tempest in a Tea Party" AKA "Tea Party Divide" AKA "Fringe Benefits" AKA "Dude, Where’s My Health Care?" - The meeting between Mitchie McConnell, Small Price to Pay Goldilocks, and President Obama’s been postponed until after Thanksgiving. Well, THAT’s damn disrespectful; they at least better bring the wish bone! Senator McCentury is worried that the new tea baggers who will be Congress critters come January will be too "isolationist" (aka really push cutting defense spending). These comments came in the light of Senator – elect {insert retching here} Rand Paul plainly express his approval of cutting defense spending to knock down the deficit & claiming during the campaign that foreign policy was a non – issue to him. Hell, that was a non – issue to Sharron Angle, too, but the people of NV weren’t STOOOOOPID enough to make her their Senator!
Senator – elects Pat Toomey & Mark Kirk are on the defense – cutting bandwagon, too. Rep. – elect {insert more retching here} Alan West is with defense cuts, too. Rep. Anthony Weiner gets to chat GOBP infighting tonight. He thinks the meeting with President Obama was cancelled because of GOBP embarrassment that they, perhaps, don’t have much of a plan for governing. I don’t think that’s it at all; they’re supposed to be the "drown government in a bath tub" bunch. They could care less about effective governing. I think they wanted to give President Obama a sneak preview of the level of cooperation he can expect from them when the new Congress begins its "work" in January. Many of these defense appropriations are so spread out among so many districts & affect so many non – government employees that cutting spending might not be so easy by design. Rep. – elect Randy Harris who campaigned against "Obama care" during his campaign is pi$$ed HIS government health care doesn’t kick in for a month or so. Wow, that didn’t take long; he’s got a street in DC named after him already!
Rep – elect Harris is a doctor, too! OK, this quote is just priceless; he’s already a damn clueless LOSER before he even takes the damn oath:
This is the only employer I’ve ever worked for where you don’t get coverage the first day you are employed.
Huh, I’ve worked jobs where my health insurance didn’t kick in on day 1; I’d wager that some of y’all have also worked jobs where your health insurance didn’t kick in on day 1. *&^%$#@! David Weigel gets GOBP hypocrisy duty tonight. Rep – elect Harris is trying to walk back what he said – to no avail. And, surprise, surprise, surprise...no GOBP freshy – person Congress critter said "no thanks" to their government – run healthcare even though they had campaigned AGAINST "government – run healthcare." Rep – elect Harris was a tea bagger before tea bagging was cool in politics; any candidate who compromised their "principles" in elected office no longer deserves to hold said office. So, we’ll be getting his resignation letter...
#4 "The Power of the President" AKA "Presidential Power" - Some progressive groups, including the Center for American Progress, want President Obama to use more of the executive power his office entails. Uh, if he didn’t use that power with Dem majorities, he sure as $hit won’t use it now. He could’ve suspended DADT dismissals on January 21, 2009 pending a review of the policy but didn’t. This group came up with 30 ways President Obama could skirt Congress to get things done! A couple of suggestions include letting the EPA regulate greenhouse gases, using his power as CIC for DADT...hey...wait a minute; I’m getting déjà vu all over again! ;D Here’s a link to the full report for your reading pleasure! Newtie Gingrich is dishing out advice to President Obama on how to get along with the GOBP; taking time off would do wonders! Neera Tanden thinks it was appropriate for President Obama to act the way he did while he had Dem majorities. {insert annoying buzzer here} WRONG! He knew what he would have to work with – or not work with – as far as GOBP cooperation after the stimulus vote. THAT was the time to begin kicking a$$ and taking names! One result might be President Obama using his Cabinet more effectively in the next couple of years.
** We had a F.O.O. make the Tweet of the Day!!!! HOT DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D A piggy – back entrance to a reception went slightly awry. A soccer player in Asia missed an EASY goal. A smarty bull jumped into the crowd at a bull fight; it’s probably seen the classic Bugs Bunny cartoon! **
#3 "The Maher Interview" - Bill Maher is going to be in Peoria, IL on December 3??!! Oh, that would be a bit of a drive. I’ll have to go to his website to see if he’ll be anywhere closer. Merriville, IN is way the heck up by Chicago – again, a bit of a drive. He’s a little grateful that the majority of the tea baggers did not reach elected office. Bill wishes President Obama had gotten a little more angry after the election a couple of weeks ago. Man, I just lurve Bill Maher!! :D OK, this quote is gonna be my new sig line!
One side in our great national debate just makes crap up!
I LOVE THAT MAN!! :D About 2 minutes into this clip BRILLIANTLY & WONDERFULLY ‘splains what’s been going on.
[HEY – HEY! WPITW is coming back to the tune of 73%! But, golly, that means I don’t get to do SPARK anymore after tonight {insert image of me dabbing tears away here}. SPARK, we hardly knew ye!]
#2 "Fox and No Friends" - And, the FAUX News employee meeting will keep getting more & more interestinger! They had some not – so – charitable comments about $aint $arah from Wasilla’s new television venture when they didn’t realize the mics & cameras were still on. :D Said FAUX News employees think "that woman" might just be over – exposing herself. Huh...in Rich Lowry’s dreams...
#1 "One – Way Ticket" - Derrick Pitts is talking going to Mars & never coming back. So, will Martians be more like this
or like THIS?
Those espousing Mars one – way tickets think investors need to begin investing YESTERDAY!
