About an hour ago, Nancy Pelosi was elected House Democratic Leader by the overwhelming margin of 150-43. This is a crushing, more than 3-1 defeat for her Blue Dog challengers. It's even a bigger margin than Dick Gephardt's post-1994 victory of 150-58. No matter how much press attention Blue Dogs got with their whining, it didn't get them many votes.

You helped make this happen. When the Blue Dogs announced their challenge, everyone knew Wall Street was in their corner. In response, more than 32,000 members of the Daily Kos community showed all House Democrats that the grassroots were in Pelosi’s corner.

We’ve beaten back the Blue Dog attempt to take over the party. Now, it’s time to start our campaign to take back the House in 2012. That's why, in the wake of today's victory, we are launching Orange to Blue 2012, with Nancy Pelosi as our first endorsed candidate.

Please, contribute $10 to Nancy Pelosi now, and help her take back the House in 2012.

Speaker Pelosi, soon to be Leader Pelosi, does not need the money for her personal re-election campaign. However, as part of her duties as Democratic Leader, she is fundraiser in chief for all House Democratic incumbents and candidates. The money you contribute to her will be distributed to Democrats in key districts around the country.

We won this fight. Now, let’s win 2012. Contribute $10 to Nancy Pelosi, and help Democrats take back the House.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
