That's what it seems like at first glance. Here's the story here below about the TSA chief, John Pistole, is possibly walking back his stand on the TSA-sanctioned gropings of Americans:
Heeding a sudden furor, John Pistole, administrator of the Transportation Security Administration, said in a Sunday afternoon statement to POLITICO that airport screening procedures "will be adapted as conditions warrant," in an effort to make them "as minimally invasive as possible, while still providing the security that the American people want and deserve."
TSA's new flexibility comes as the government gears up for a flood of travel over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Administration officials say any changes are more likely to be in the implementation of the security procedures than in the security measures themselves.
What does "will be adopted as conditions warrant" and making them "as minimally invasive as possible" mean?
We don't know yet at this point, but it's clear that TSA and the White House is feeling the pressure from the public outcry against the porno scanners and the gropings.
And to that I say, keep up the pressure!
You can take ACTION by following these steps below to protest the full body scanners and the invasive patdown procedures:
- Write to your Representative and Senator.
- Lodge your complaint with the Electronic Privacy Center's incident report if you have experienced a problem with TSA.
- Complain to the airlines. If they feel they'll take a hit in their pocketbook, then they'll lobby TSA to change their security methods.
- Let the US Travel Association know how you feel.
- File a complaint with the ACLU.
- File a TSA Civil Rights complaint, and you can do so online as well.
The National Opt-out Day is going to be on November 24th. And don't forget to contact the White House as well. Sometimes a word from the boss on above can change things for the better.
