Over the River, Up Eye-Thirty-Five
To grandmother’s house we go.
Baikal knows the way, to carry the sleigh,
...through this goddamn, insufferable traffic...
The is the ONE time per year that I wish Rick Perry and his TXDOT Nazis could've had their way with that wack-ass Trans-Texas Corridor.
Baikal's Top Five 2010 "Grateful" List:
- This year, I am grateful that we're not flying. Hallelujah and Allah Ahkbar!
- This year, I am grateful my kids go to a GREAT public school, with great teachers, despite our State Board of Education’s attempts to convert them all into madrassas.
- This year, I am grateful that Obamacare passed, and that my ailing father gets to continue suckin' air until his body, not his wallet, says "time’s up".
- This year, I am glad that my best man survived a really, really, really terrible motorcycle accident, having no pulse, no blood pressure and going through a near-record 43 pints of blood at Brackenridge by the time they stitched up his iliac artery. Less than 4 months ago, his innards were splayed out on the OR table beside him like some parasitic anaconda; today, he's none the worse, minus a sternum-to-navel scar. The miracles of modern medicine.
- And most of all this year, like every other year, Baikal is thankful for a beautiful, fulfilling, entertaining, patient and loving family. I have truly an embarrassment of riches....I'm blushing as I type. Either I am too goddamned lucky, or I am not the insufferable, pugnacious s.o.b. I appear to be online;) ....either way....Happy Thanksgiving.
Be safe fellow travelers. May St. Christopher or favorable juju or just good thoughts, be with you.
I’m out,
B
