I got an email from DRo the other day with a decent idea:
How can we reach the average American with a grassroots effort to educate on the greed, meanness and absurdity of extending the tax cuts for the wealthiest, let alone making such an extension the price for tax relief for everyone else?
The idea was that such a broadbased, outside-the-usual-media-channels approach is needed to head off the Republicans at the legislative pass, and that messages like Seneca Doane's Extra! Extra! and Bensdad's Golden Shovels were a good way to frame the debate.
DRo also thought I could help musically, which should tell you nobody's right all the time.
Nonetheless, I love a challenge, and have tried to come up with a musical message to remind our countrymen just where these deficits that have so riled up our Republican brethren came from.
The result is here: "The Great Big Hole" (copyright 2010 Louie Ludwig All rights reserved, yada yada).
This is only a prelim demo version, with pretty dubious vocals (soon bettah come--anybody know a doo wop group willing to work cheap?), but, with all the prog/prag meta wars yesterday, I thought we might all do well with a reminder of just who our opponents really are.
(Hint: it's not the president. And it damn sure isn't one another.)
On the whole, I like the idea of bypassing the usual yammerheads with a simple message is pretty good. Any thoughts (and better vocals) you might have to accomplish that would be greatly appreciated.
