Senators who vote against cloture tomorrow are engaging in a filibuster against this country's future.
The people of America get it. Only 26% think that extending tax cuts to the rich is a good idea. Overwhelmingly Americans believe that it is necessary during these economic hard times to extend tax cuts for the middle class, those making less than $250K.
Tax cuts for the rich will this country $700B over the next ten years. Money that we just don't have. It's bankrupting our nation. Extension of tax cuts for the middle class will get plowed into the sputtering economic recovery. The rich tax cuts will do nothing except drain out economic health. The stakes could not be higher. The vote tomorrow is about this country's economic future. Our economic survival is going to be filibustered.
Tomorrow there will be a vote in the Senate for cloture to end debate and allow an up or down vote on extension of tax cuts for the middle class, and we are told by every major mainstream news outlet, that it doesn't have a chance. It will fail. The Republicans are going to stand united with Joe Lieberman and some other phony Democrats and filibuster a bill that can actually save the United States from economic collapse. They are going to filibuster our country's future for the sake of continuing to shovel the lifeblood of this nation into their greedy little hands.
Let's call this filibuster what it is. Un-American! This scoundrels are preparing to put their craven self-interest ahead of rational economic policy. They must not be allowed to succeed in bringing down this nation.
This is not just another campaign promise that can be bargained away. This issue drives to the heart of the collapsing American economy. Extend these insane tax cuts for the wealthy and this nation continues to get flushed down the drain.
Obama promised us he would let these tax cuts expire. Perhaps there was no single campaign promise that he communicated more clearly and directly. He was right then. These tax cuts are killing this country. They are morally reprehensible and economically devastating.
So, tomorrow the Republicans and their Democratic friends are going to filibuster this country's future. Does this nation have the courage to fight them, or do we once again surrender our future to these thieves?
Can we get this President who campaigned vehemently on this issue to use his bully pulpit to demand an "up or down" vote? Will we see anybody actually fight for the middle class -- fight for out future?
What the hell is wrong with these people that they would unite to filibuster the nation's future.
