Watching the pre-game show for Sunday Night Football, Tony Dungy, the ex-coach of the Indianapolis, was discussing the struggles his former quarterback, Peyton Manning, is having the last few games. To open the discussion, he says "He is the most frustrated guy in America right now."
Really? The MOST frustrated guy in America? Because he lost a couple of games? Really, Tony, Really? Peyton makes more money in one year than 99% of the American population will their entire lives, and he's the most frustrated? And I'm sure that the husband and father who has lost his job because the company he works for sent the job to China and his unemployment has now run out and has no way of keeping the house let alone feed his family is in no way at all frustrated. Or at least as frustrated as Peyton Manning. That couldn't be possible, right Tony? Because Manning lost a football game and now gets to drive home in his fancy car and eat and sleep in his mansion and never has to worry about money for the rest of his life, he definately is the MOST frustrated man in America.
This is the kind of tone-deaf remark these grown men playing or pontificating on a silly game make because they are multi-millionaires too. They could care less about the plight of the millions of middle class Americans who spend their hard earned money to be entertained for a few hours and forget their frustrations.
And the middle class have real frustrations, Tony. Frustrated because they have to work more than 40 hours a week to just break even. Frustrated because husbands and wives both have to work and never get to spend time together just to break even. Frustrated because Christmas is coming and millions of families have no money. This isn't the bullshit frustration some guy has because of a bad game, Tony. These are real and Americans are hurting.
If Peyton loses the next game, I'm sure he won't be pleased. He may even feel upset and frustrated, but the MOST frustrated guy in America? I seriously, seriously doubt it.
