Christmas Came Early This Year

The mendacious and merciless mercenaries of the Republican party have plenty to be thankful for this joyous season because once again they’ve bullied and bullshitted their way into the Federal feeding trough filled with dollars we’ve put in it but not them. They were just handed a $800 billion dollar gift that we, the few remaining workers, will have to pay over the next ten years but which if they would’ve been forced to pay a reasonable share of taxes, could’ve been used to create a federal work program like FDR created to dig the country out of the Great Depression. And they still manage to dupe the public into believing they care more about the deficit and the economy than the Democratic party does.

Once again the Democrats will hang their heads and wander off like Winnie the Pooh’s Eyore "thanks for noticing me," and Obama will plead "now let’s play nice and can’t we just try to get along?" Warren Buffett told us straight except he was wrong about one thing, he said the rich have been saying give us a tax break and we’ll hire employees, for the past decade. No, it’s been at least three decades. Remember Reagan’s trickle down on the people? Yeah, piss on the poor and the working people. The rich do nothing but drain our economy and the gap between them & us grows ever wider. We’re forced to subsidize their corporations, this is called the Free Market. And we’re forced to bail them out when their greed brings them down.

As for us, hey, they’ve set their sights on Social Security and Medicare and they are drooling with delight because they know they will eventually get their dirty hands on them. No, they won’t rest until every last one of us is begging for a crust of bread as in pre-revolutionary France when Marie Antoinette said "Let them eat cake," as the elite swine gorged themselves at Versailles.

We are truly a nation of suckers! Our apathy and indifference to politics and our "amusing ourselves to death," with "reality" shows, Dancing with the Stars, and all the other mental swill on T.V. has rendered us the walking dead. "Don’t worry, be happy." Obama has brought change to America, "Brother Can You Spare A Dime?"

P.S.  The Corporate Cockroach Class will never allow the "Defense budget" to be significantly reduced or cut because the military is their enforcer, their henchmen, around the globe and allows them to rape, pillage, and plunder the resources and the people of the weaker nations in the name of Capitalism and Democracy.

Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year!
Ho! Ho! Ho!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

  •  Of course we as the workers do have a choice (0+ / 0-)

we don't have to shop at the big box stores, we don't have to buy cheap foreign products, we don't have to participate in the destruction of the middle class way of life.

We could save our money, but we don't. We borrow, we live beyond our means, buy bigger cars and bigger houses. We demand more entertainment, better entertainment. We have allowed our corpratist overlords to escape accountability to us the consumers of their poison. We the people are to blame for this, we are the ones who buy the cheap shit and keep it all going, is it the corporations fault we buy shit from them after they ship 30k jobs overseas, no its our fault, we should have boycotted these companies back in the 80's and 90's when it all started but did we, no we just sheeple'd along, take what they give us.

When reagan busted the air traffic controllers union, there should have been a national strike in support, but was there, hell no, why support the overpaid government lackies in air traffic. That my friend is when it all started and it has gone down hill from there, this is our fault.

you make some good points but let the multinational corps running the world off way too easy. I agree that we share in the responsibility and I'm not making excuses for people's laziness or ignorance but to some extent the people are helpless due to our public education system which purposely dumbs students down and our corporate media which control & manipulate public opinion. How do we get the message out to the public of all the corps they should boycott? And I am very aware of Reagan's role if you note that is why I said the trickle down B.S. has been going on for three decades not one.

  •  Right on cutting Defense, wrong on gift to (0+ / 0-)

wealthy.  Its not a gift if you are allowed to keep your own money.  Why anyone believes they have a claim upon others earnings is baffling.  Unless we acknowledge that indeed we believe in pure socialism, rants about the poor workers who enrich the greedy employers is disengenious.  Buy stock in the corporations and share the wealth before capital gains tax goes up.

you couldn't be more wrong re: "gift," if the rich were forced to pay their fair share of taxes and couldn't sometimes avoid taxes all together via Cayman Island accounts etc. there would be more funds available for the necessary infrastructure which the corps. utilize in their businesses  here in America and also money for the social welfare programs necessary if we are to call ourselves a humane people. Remember all those qualities you "very well off" people love to brag about? Your "I got mine, tough shit for everybody else" attitude is what has gotten us to this sorry state of affairs. And as for your trotting out that tired old fear "socialism" that's disingenuous just as the myth of the free market. You inhuman greedy ones are subsidized via our tax dollars to develop your industries and once you start making a profit, you then privatize the profit and stick your money in your banks and gloat like you're some sort of superior being. If you're truly against government regulation and intervention, let's not give you any tariff protection, subsidies, tax breaks, etc. and see how long you Machiavellians survive with your "business savvy."
