The President argues that unless we make compromises with the Republicans, we'll never get anything done, and cites the health care reform that he obtained after one hundred years of other Democrats trying. But Mr. President, you cannot hope to ‘get anything done’ for ‘the people’ when you are dealing with a party that gets closer to fascism with every vote. Here is the definition of fascism from the Norton Dictionary of Modern Thought:
"Fascism was a product of a deep-seated social and economic crisis in Europe which followed World War I. It produced no coherent system of ideas comparable with Marxism. [Fascist parties were] strongly nationalistic, and hated liberalism, democracy and parliamentary parties, which they sought to replace by a new authori-tarian state in which there would be only one party, their own, with a monopoly of power.
They aimed to mobilize the masses with a populist appeal as a prelude to the seizure of power. In their political campaigns they relied heavily on propaganda and terrorism. They shared a cult of violence and action, and exalted war. Racism and anti-Semitism were strongly marked features of some fascist movements. Fascist movements appealed strongly to various groups in the middle and lower middle classes who felt their position in society threatened by inflation, economic depression, the organized work-ing class movements and the specter of revolution; and to youth attracted by the cult of action and the denunciation of ‘the system’. Their nationalism and anti-Marxism won them sympathy and sometimes support from the traditional parties of the right and the army."
People rightly wonder why the few need money they count in billions. I suggest it's to enable the military/financial/industrial complex to take over this country - completely.
Mr. President, you are like a little boy banging a fist on the GIANT’s door, hoping that because you are cute, and smart, the monster will let you in, and maybe even offer you tea and crumpets.
What is most disrespectful to the American people is not the Republicans: it is that you and your fellow democrats go on pretending we have a two-party system, in which politicians make decisions in a gentlemanly and fair way, each side giving a little (as Jon Stewart naively suggested recently) to arrive at a ‘happy medium’: a decent living for the many and some luxuries for the few that the many understand are not for them.
The Republicans have spawned the Tea Party because the right is also indignant at the semblance of a two-party system. It is angry for reasons that have to do with our history and its nationalist education. That is not a reason for the left to cave to them. Repeat after me: L-E-F-T, not ‘liberal’, left, don’t be afraid to say it, it’s what has gotten a better life for the many in Europe and a few other places.
The Democratic party is suffering from terminal fear. Remember Roosevelt. He said: ‘We have nothing to fear but fear itself.’ Get over it, so we can move one, before we get ‘Left Behind’.
