Surge in Afghanistan, troops in Iraq in perpetuity, Gitmo, Military tribunals, Climate change, Secretary of Defense Gates, DADT, Tax Cuts for the wealthy...
Tell me again that when a progressive says there is no difference between the Democrats and Republicans that you will honestly say they are wrong. Sure on social issues they are different...but insofar as they allow the Courts to decide those issues chiefly that is irrelevant.
This is George W. Bush's third term. Spare the argument that Obama is/was better than John McCain. From where I sit, George Bush himself wouldn't be much different than this President.
Mr. President....
How long must the war in Afghanistan continue...
How long must Gitmo stay open before our Supermax can hold terrorists...
How long must children live in poverty while we give tax cuts to the wealthy...
How long must we wait to protect our environment vigorously...
How long will you be a reincarnation of George W. Bush?
I will not be afraid to vote my conscience in 2012. Any progressive that runs will receive my vote. Failing a strong challenge I will vote for a third party and failing that I will write-in a candidate. The days of me fearing Republicans are over. These Democrats are just not good enough.
And not just the President. The Democratic party does not care about us...in truth it seems as though they wish they didn't have to deal with us. It would be so much easier if we just shut up and allow them to serve their corporate interests solely.
Well, I can tell when I am not wanted. Yes Mr. President I stood in the rain going door to door to register minorities to vote...know why?
So you could force us to buy private insurance. We didn't want universal health care.
So you could cut tax for the wealthiest Americans while they send their kids to shitty public schools.
So you could send their sons and daughters to die in unnecessary wars.
So, after doing all of this, you should then complain that they don't kneel and kiss your ring and be grateful for all that you do for them.
King George III there comes a time when a politician/political party so abandons the interest of its constituency that the people must divorce their loyalties and declare independence. This time has now come for me.
