It is now reported that Pelosi will bring this tax deal to the floor in the House, a sign that Democrats will be caving a lot over the next two years and likely longer, given how horrible Democrats are at winning Congressional elections.

This means that the deal will almost certainly pass.
Welcome to the new reality. Now that Republicans control the House, they will likely get whatever they want. Next up is Social Security cuts, repeal of healthcare reform, and tax "simplification" which is code for a flat tax. If Democrats are going to be this way in the minority, I dont see any hope for them standing up and fighting on anything else.
If this is the way its going to be, I am really starting to wish that Obama never won in 2008. He's really been nothing but a huge disappointment who is unwilling to stand up and fight for anything and at the same time Democrats are punished for his weakness by losing control of the House.
Had Democrats kept control of the House, we never would have been having this discussion. Democrats would have been able to work out a deal to let the cuts expire for those making over $500,000 a year or so. We would have been in a better position with a Democratic House and a Republican President than the other way around.
The Obama Presidency might have just doomed Democrats to a minority for a generation. Obama will probably survive in 2012, but the Democratic party probably wont.
It almost makes me wish I never got into politics in the first place.
