I'm in the midst of a war on Xmas on Facebook...
Earlier this week my niece posted an entry inviting people to volunteer at a local adopt-a-family event. She ended the post thanking "everyone who can help a deserving family who needs help this Xmas". My soon-to-be-former son-in-law responded with this screed (spelling and caps are all his):
"CHRISTMAS IS SPELT WITH A C NOT A (X)...THAT AITHIEST BS...THERE WOULDNT BE A CHRISTMAS WITHOUT JESUS CHRIST RIGHT..MERRY CHRISTMAS OR C-MAS...".
This cracked me up. This man (who, by the way, happens to be the laziest man in the world) spends his time sending right-wing emails to his friends and relatives. He made the mistake once and forwarded one to me ranting and raving about 'liberals'. After I replied (and copied all on his distibitution list) with the "if you...thank a liberal" response, he was livid; I didn't back down but, hey, he quit sending email to me.
This is a man who has spent the last 20 years of his life living off his parents (he's over 40) and getting unemployment, Section 8 housing, food stamps, and other government assistance is just galling. When he would come to visit I made sure MSNBC was on TV and loud. What a tool!
So, now I've been doing a little posting myself - verses to Xmas songs with Xmas instead of Christmas - which I would normally not do (used to be in Word Processing - proofreading is now ingrained). Hope the throbbing vein in his forhead bursts. :)
Merry Xmas!
