Julian Assange is Tammy Faye Baker 2.0
Julian Assange is currently sipping tea in his mansion paid for by good-intended people who thought they were donating to an organization with a good and noble cause. I've seen this before. When getting my master's in Sociology of Religion I wrote my thesis on the phenomenon of evangelical megalomaniacs: Jim & Tammy Bakker and Jimmy Swaggart, Robert Tilton, Ted Haggard and the like. They were a bigger assault on the elderly than the Tea Party's crusade to demolish Social Security.
I'm all for transparency, government accountability and most especially corporate accountability by not through, by definition, a religion led by a self-perceived prophet for profit. I prefer legitimate whistle-blowing groups with financial responsibility with an operational to outreach expenses ratio of $0.25 per $1.00.
Out of all of these released documents, what really has come out? An American calling another diplomat "poopy pants"? A commanding officer reporting a fire-fight? A video of war-damaged soldiers killing civilians? Or the innocent Iraqi who served as a translater who's name was released and is now costing the government millions to hide him and his family?
And people like Julian Swaggart dare sit there, pointing his finger in shame at American troops who are mentally scared from war making a bad decision on the battlefield! What courage Julian, what courage you have. He was crying like a little bitch when he was taken into custody and said "I miss my computer" not "This is nothing compared to what is happening to the soldier who leaked me the documents".
We KNOW Bush/Cheney lied us into war, it was transparent in 2002 but Julian Swaggart felt as if he's some sort of cult icon becaused he released very scant evidence of this after half of American knew Iraq was bullshit. And then his big "256 character password ecoded bomb to be released by my mobilizing my army of Johnny Mnemonic wannabes" if I'm arrested. Hmm...don't see it.
Maybe, just maybe, Julian is, dare I say, full of shit?
Army Private First Class Bradley Manning has been the sob story just like the elderly ladies crying on Good Morning America because they gave all that they had to a charismatic preacher thinking they were helping build the Crystal Palace of Salvation.
Manning is the classic "seeker", desperately looking for self-worth and belonging and are highly susceptible to people and organizations like Julian Swaggart. Now, lets get something strait; Manning screwed up, big time. I feel sorry for his incarceration, but the outrage of his treatment is ill-informed.
I have family members who have top military clearance and still can't talk about things that happened almost 30 years ago. And do you know why? Because this is the punishment. They take an oath with the understanding of the rights they are forfeiting and punishments resulting from breaking that oath. The mere threat of the punishments (ironically classified) have kept military secrets for decades and quit frankly, Manning is getting exactly what he knew he would get and is lucky he hasn't been executed...yet. I'm anti-death penalty in all cases, I'm just stating facts.
I feel sorry for Manning, I really do, just as I felt sorry for the 86 year-old who mortgaged her house for the Crystal Palace.
What is Julian Swaggart doing to help? Asking for more money for Wikileaks, not Manning. So whats the latest from this foppish little twerp?
Documents seen by the Guardian reveal for the first time the full details of the allegations of rape and sexual assault that have led to extradition hearings against the WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange.
Ironic?
Julian Swaggart's official response?
Assange's UK lawyer, Mark Stephens, attributed the allegations to "dark forces", saying: "The honeytrap has been sprung ... After what we've seen so far you can reasonably conclude this is part of a greater plan."
"Greater Plan"? What, like the Rapture?
The parallels are uncanny.
