::pokes head over large pile of shoveled snow, sighing wearily and leaning on a shovel::
Welcome to Top Comments! As you might have heard, while Boston-based Casa Brillig did not have a White Christmas we certainly had a White Boxing Day! Mother Nature dumped two feet of snow on us between midday yesterday and today.
Join me below the fold for pictures and hot cocoa!
Woke up today to that weird silence punctured by the occasional snowplow that mark blizzards. Mr. Brillig was working from home today so we slept in until past 8, and had a lazy morning playing a family game on the Wii (Santa brought us two additional controllers so that we ALL could play together) followed by eggnog french toast and really, really good peppered bacon.
Before you ask how much of breakfast will linger on brillig's hips... have I mentioned that we do not own a snowblower but do have a 4-carlength driveway on a major (and thus repeatedly plowed) town road?
Yeah, I burned off all of that deliciousness shoveling snow with the rest of the Casa!
K1 and K2 took the dog out for a romp in the snow before coming out to shovel with us:
Me savoring the sense of accomplishment only finding the driveway under all that snow can provide:
We got the van shoveled out after an hour of clearing the walkway, the front sidewalk, and approximately two carlengths of driveway:
Now we could shovel out the WRX!
Mr. Brillig in his Who-Cap (tm) attempting to break through plow backwash to connect the driveway to the road:
Took a moment to savor the beauty that is a snow-covered world:
I'd love say we came in after and sat around drinking hot cocoa all afternoon, but... Mr. Brillig still had a half day of work to get done, I had things to do, and the kids were off to fight play quietly together and watch TV all afternoon. Consider this picture of K1's latest hot cocoa at my weekly coffee place what we would have had if only:
Did you get snow, or was it warm and sunny in your neck of the woods? Share with us below!

Thank you to those who sent in comment nominations:
From Puddytat:
In Deep Harm's diary on yet another massive food recall, I came by this comment by G2Geek. It's buried under lots of great and serious posts and didn't want anyone to miss not only a good laugh, but a good point being made, as well.
From sardonyx:
In cskendrick's wonderful diary last night The Airing of Gratitudes, geomoo's comment there about a powerful comment in April by GenXangster (who's a she, not a he, as Deoliver47 points out later) is very much worth reading, as is the linked original thread geomoo refers to that started with that powerful comment.
From asimbagirl:
This comment by mickT and JeffW's response had me laughing out loud. Which scared the cat. Which made me laugh harder.
There's really nothing more to say to Chrislove's comment (and his nifty sigline!) than a-freakin-men.
The above are from plf515's diary If gay marriage threatens your marriage...., which I really enjoyed for its brevity and common sense. I suspect I'm just wired differently than the majority in my congressional district, because I simply cannot see why gay marriage is such a big, hairy threat. (And I think those that think so are big, hairy a**holes, but again, I refer you back to the whole wired differently thing. I just hope I passed that different wiring onto the kid!
From Yours Truly, brillig:
I know as the diarist du jour I'm supposed to find smart insightful comments. But this snarky little tidbit by Misterpuff caught my eye.
Ohiodem1 on how many conservatives read the Constitution. From thefourthbranch's excellent diary Conservatives mistake "Constitution" for "Articles of Confederation".
Top Mojo needed no shoveling out, thanks to the ease with which cskendrick and sardonyx have made running the numbers!
