I see the world very much differently from those on the current left or the current right. I fancy myself a true Liberal, a pretty good economist, and more pragmatic than most. And that is the psychological foundation from which most of my opinions emerge.
While those on the left want more and better government and those on the right want very little government, I see it as a question of what actually works for the vast middle class. If, the disparity of wealth, actually results in a more prosperous and more free middle class then the disparity of wealth is not an enemy.
And if people can actually learn what they need to learn before they assert their beliefs in elections then democracy is the best sow in the pen.
No one in their right mind LIKES authority and government. All people of good character and self esteem want to be free to pursue their own destiny, and to be respected by their fellows. That is not the mental condition of the left or the right, but the mental condition of the many.
But with this comes also the realization that we are not capable of knowing everything and certainly not capable of being adept at all things. Ergo, the roots of "free market capitalism", and social systems are the same. There can only be gains from division and the specialization of land and labor in a social environment where people own the fruits of their labors and can freely trade these fruits with their neighbors. This observation runs the course to labor itself as opposed to tangible fruits. The fruits of a social worker's efforts are more self supporting people. We do not infer that these fruits are "owned", but that the labor itself is owned.
Enough of the economics.
- The membership of the House of Representatives will never be less than 1.5 times the (rounded up) cube root of the total population, and the congressional districts must be drawn strictly on the basis of equal population and be as square as reasonably possible. (this makes the House of 1012 members)
- The number of Supreme court Justices will never be less than the odd (rounded up) cube root of the membership of the House of Representatives, and the confirmation of a Supreme Court Justice will require a 2/3rds majority of the Senate. (This makes a Supreme court of 11 justices)
- Each state in repeating elections of not less than 6 years nor more than 12 years will determine the method in which it chooses its Senators.
- Each House of the Congress must adopt its rules by majority vote following each 2 year election cycle.
- K12 education will be fully supported by Federal Taxation and no person shall receive a 12 year degree unless that person understands the structure of the United States government and can demonstrate an understanding of basic economic principles regarding specialization and trade as well as returns to scale.
It is my opinion that this fixes more than 90% of what has gone wrong with our nation.
