Welcome woozle, pootie, birdie and general critter lovers. This is a diary to relax, share pictures and stories about our animal friends, and to build community. Come on in and join us.
OK, I confess. The woozle in the title is singular because I could only find one on theme. But we have a wide variety of quadruped friends today, so hopefully that will compensate.
You'll be shocked (shocked!) to discover that it was a very camera Christmas here at Casa ITK, where we are a bunch of incorrigible photobugs.
Trs got a much needed new Canon 50D DSLR camera this year. Much needed because his old one was 8 years old and just a bit behind the times technologically and megapixally speaking.
He also got a new collar for his biggest lens so he could mount it on a tripod (the lens is too heavy to put the tripod on the camera, it has to go on the lens and he broke the old collar).
I got a brand new dragonfly stalker camera, a Canon SX30IS with a 35x zoom (that's 24-840mm effective zoom, for those of you counting at home). No dragonflies so far, I'm sorry to report, but herewith an ornament on the tree from over 10 feet away with no cropping at all:
I also got a new tripod, and most importantly a pistol grip tripod head. Trs assures me it can also be made into a joystick configuration. Hooray! The center column of my tripod will pull up and out to extend sideways, so you can get those awkward angles.
I love my new tripod but Gaffer much preferred the box!
Finally there's Kidlet. Trs and I are having a serious negative influence on her, I must admit. She got his hand-me-down camera, so for Christmas she got her very own 18-200mm image stabilized lens to put on it. She's still working on figuring the whole DSLR thing out, but she's having a great time.
She also got a pocket-sized point and shoot that she'll use when toting the DSLR is a little much (and also, lets face it, for taking those self portraits at arm length she's so known for).
And that was about it, excepting of course various filters and spare camera batteries and such. The current tally is hoomins: 3; good working cameras: 6. The cats are thrilled (no, really) to have all these new cameras in the house.
Or maybe...
