This phrase is Congressman John Boccieri's rallying cry to encourage a new frame for thinking about protecting American jobs. In this diary I'm going to do a little Internet leg-work and research the places this phrase has come up in the media, and also present a question to the Kossacks: Why isn't this phrase, "Build It, Grow It, and Assemble It In America" not getting more play and developing into a movement?
The first time I heard the phrase, "Grow It, Build It, and Assemble It In America," it was on a podcast of the Countdown With Keith Olbermann from October 7th. Here's the video:
This phrase really resonated with me and I started looking around for more information on it. I would have figured by now folks would have started organizing around the idea that we need to bring jobs back to America by being....(deep breath)...more protectionist. I'm not a protectionist or an isolationist, I just believe that we should start making and building things in America again. I don't know much about Congressman Boccieri's politics, but the phrase, "Grow It, Build It, and Assemble It In America" makes so much sense.
Anyway, I don't really understand all the ins and outs of this issue but I'm going to POST ANYWAY, because I don't want this to get deleted while I dither with details. Thank you to everyone who takes the time to read this and I would be very appreciative if anyone had any ideas or resources I could look at.
